One of the best HDD DVDRs made by Panasonic, the best maker of such devices due mainly to their full resolution recording on speeds up through 4hrs and overall great recording quality. The downside to this model seems to be like all devices made during it's time, poor quality capacitors and also not sure what causes it but some start developing what I call "noisy" line inputs that put hash lines through your recordings, making it basically unusable. But if yours doesn't have the hash line issue and your caps seem to be holding up, it's a great DVDR. The laser tends to last a lifetime(haven't had one go on this model yet, unlike say the EH-55 or EH-75v which is a newer somewhat nicer DVDR but tends to have laser failure) which unless you send it away for repair(~$250) basically bricks it. Oh you do need to periodically clean the spindle of dust to keep the DVD from slipping during burning which can cause burn failures but if you do that, it makes great burns and this model tests to last much longer than newer ones. But note, personally I wouldn't pay a ton for one at this point, it's an 8+ year old device that probably wasn't made to last more than 3-5 years, you may purchase one used now and it may work for a while, then a capacitor could fail or you could get the noisy line input syndrome. If you got it cheap enough and it works well after getting it home, good for you but as I've had my share of these and other Panasonics fail for one reason or another, were all living on borrowed time.......:)
