I have the alto book. It is a great book of etudes. I play through a couple pages each day to maintain breathing/fingering facility. The book is well-organized with one complete etude on each page (no page turns) and each etude focuses on a different rhythmic and articulation pattern. I also love the book because the etudes are fun to play and very melodic.I hear some people complaining that the book is also being marketed as a soprano book containing the same printed music. Actually, this alto book can be played with either alto or soprano recorders. Use "C" recorder fingering when playing on soprano/tenor and "F" recorder fingering when playing on alto/sopranino.I notice that on the back cover of the book that Mr. Stilp played in the USAF band. I also played in the USAF band but never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Stilp. I am sorry to hear that he passed away on December 13, 2015. My sincere sympathy goes out to his family. This book shows that the world has lost a gifted music educator.
